1. Who we are

“The Expat Math” (theexpatmath.com) is operated by The Expat Math, a Individual / sole proprietorship (not incorporated) operating from Israel. We do not currently publish a registered postal address (see our Contact page); if you need to reach us by mail, email us and we'll provide a current mailing option.

2. What we collect

For most of this site — the free guide, the calculator, the Starter Kit, and the community — we collect only:

• Your name — so we can address you and personalize what we send you.
• Your email address — to deliver the guide, product, or report you've requested or purchased, and to send you a receipt.
• Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor (see §3). We do not receive or store your card details ourselves.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

The Country Finder assessment collects more, because it has to

The $29 Country Finder report is personalized, so the intake questionnaire asks for the financial and lifestyle detail that personalization requires: age range, retirement timeline, income/savings/budget ranges, U.S. state, and multiple-choice questions about your Medicare timing and health-insurance budget. It also includes a few open-ended questions ("your biggest fear about retiring abroad," "your ideal day abroad") where you're free to add whatever context helps us — some customers choose to mention a specific health condition, a family situation, or other personal detail there. That's optional and entirely up to you; we don't require it, and the form tells you it's not needed.

Whatever you share is used for one purpose only: preparing your personalized report. Your answers are analyzed with the help of Anthropic's Claude AI model (see §3), and a person reads every report after it is sent to you and follows up if anything needs correcting. See our Terms of Service §3. We don't use this information for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share the substance of your answers with anyone beyond the processors listed below.

Outside of the Country Finder assessment, we do not ask for, and do not knowingly collect, financial account numbers, government ID numbers, or health information through this site.

Testimonial program (opt-in only)

A limited number of Country Finder customers are offered a partial refund in exchange for a short video testimonial about their report. This is entirely optional — you choose whether to opt in during the intake questionnaire, and nothing is published without that explicit opt-in. If you opt in and send us a video, you are confirming that we may publish it (your name, likeness, and voice as recorded) on theexpatmath.com, our YouTube channel, and other platforms we use to promote The Expat Math. You can withdraw this consent and ask us to remove a published testimonial at any time by contacting us (see §10) — we'll take it down but can't retract copies already viewed, downloaded, or shared by others before removal.

3. Who we share it with (our service providers)

We use a small number of third parties to run this business, each of which processes only what's needed to provide their service to us:

• Whop, our payment processor — if you purchase a product, Whop is the merchant of record: your email and payment details are processed and stored by Whop, not by us. On some of our pages Whop's checkout form is embedded so you can pay without leaving our site; the form still runs on Whop's systems, and we never receive or store your card details. Whop sends you your receipt and handles applicable sales tax/VAT. See Whop's own published privacy policy for how they handle this data.
• An email/delivery service — used to send you the product, guide, or report you've requested, and any receipt or order confirmation.
• Anthropic (maker of the Claude AI model) — if you purchase the Country Finder, your questionnaire answers (not your name or email) are sent to Anthropic's API to help draft your report. Anthropic processes this solely to return the analysis to us; see Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle API data.
• A hosting provider — hosts this website and any files you download from it.

Apart from the optional partner sharing described next, which happens only if you ask for it, we do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for third parties' own marketing purposes.

Partner sharing (free Country Match quiz, only if you tick the box)

The free Country Match quiz has an optional, unticked box: “Yes, share my answers with partners who can help me retire abroad.” Your match is exactly the same whether or not you tick it.

If you tick it, we may share the following with partners: your name, your email address, your quiz answers (age range, whether you are moving alone or with a partner, savings range, monthly budget, whether you will be under 65 at the move, climate preference and how close to the U.S. you want to be) and the country the quiz matched you with. The partners are businesses that serve Americans retiring abroad, such as licensed financial advisers, international health insurers and relocation or visa services. They may email you about their services, under their own privacy policies. We may be paid for this, which makes it a “sale” of personal information under some U.S. state laws.

To prove what you agreed to, we record the date and time you ticked the box, the version of the wording you saw, the page, and your IP address and browser type. That record is kept only as evidence of your consent. Any partner we share with must use your information only to contact you about their own services, must not resell it, and must honor an opt-out.

Withdrawing: you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing from any email we send or by writing to theexpatmath@gmail.com. We then stop sharing your information from that point on. We cannot recall information already shared before you withdrew, but on request we will ask the partners we shared it with to delete it.

We never share the answers from the paid Country Finder questionnaire, and we never share anything about anyone who did not tick the box.

5. How long we keep your information

We retain your name, email, and order information for as long as needed to deliver your purchase, respond to support requests, and comply with our own accounting/tax record-keeping obligations, after which we delete it unless you've asked us to keep it longer. Country Finder questionnaire answers and generated reports are kept for up to 24 months from submission, after which they're automatically deleted. Free quiz answers are kept for up to 24 months as well, and a partner-sharing consent record is kept for as long as we hold your information plus the period we may need it as evidence (up to 5 years). You can request deletion sooner at any time (see §6).

6. Your rights

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, to request deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We only sell or share personal information for people who ticked the partner-sharing box on the free quiz (see Partner sharing), and you can opt out of that at any time as described there. If you are located in the European Economic Area or UK (GDPR): our legal basis for processing your information is your consent (for marketing emails and for partner sharing) and the performance of a contract (to deliver products you've purchased). We are based outside the EU/UK; your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your information, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. All users: you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly, and can request a copy or deletion of your information at any time.

7. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date.
