3. Who we share it with (our service providers)
We use the following third parties to run this business. Each processes only what's needed to provide their service to us:
- Google (Sheets, Drive, Gmail) — every lead form on this site sends your email (and, where collected, first name) to a private Google Sheet we maintain, and our automated system emails you from a Google (Gmail) account to deliver requested guides.
- Stripe and/or PayPal — if you purchase a product or subscribe to the community, your email and payment details are processed by our payment provider. We do not store your card details ourselves.
- Typeform — if you purchase the Country Finder assessment, you'll be directed to a Typeform-hosted questionnaire to submit your answers.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — the answers you submit for the Country Finder assessment are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI model to draft your personalized report, which our team then personally reviews and approves before it's sent to you. See our Country Finder page for details on how your report is made.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for third parties' own marketing purposes.
4. Sensitive information in the Country Finder assessment
The Country Finder questionnaire asks, at a general level, whether you or your partner have an ongoing health condition and whether family considerations (such as aging parents or grandchildren) affect how far you're comfortable being from the US. We deliberately ask for this at a yes/no level of detail, not the specifics of a diagnosis or family members' identities — we ask only what materially affects which countries and budgets make sense for your retirement plan. A few of the later, optional open-text questions (about your goals, fears, or anything else you'd like us to know) let you share more if you choose to, but nothing requires you to include specific medical or family details. This information is used solely to prepare your report and is processed as described in §3 and §5.
5. How long we keep your information
We retain your Country Finder submission and report for [X months/years] after delivery, after which it is deleted unless you've asked us to keep it longer. Lead-capture form data (email/name) is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
6. Your rights
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, to request deletion of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — we do not sell or share your information as those terms are defined by California law, so there is nothing to opt out of. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [privacy@theexpatmath.com].
If you are located in the European Economic Area or UK (GDPR): our legal basis for processing your information is your consent (for marketing emails) and the performance of a contract (to deliver products you've purchased). We are based outside the EU/UK; your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and Israel. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your information, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us at [privacy@theexpatmath.com] to exercise these rights.
All users: you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new “Last updated” date.
